Reddit Asks the Question: 'What Are Some Famous Movie Plot Holes That Aren't Really Plot Holes?'

One of my biggest pet peeves is some people's obsession with finding 'plot holes' in films, TV, and other stories. If it's done in a lighthearted, self-aware way, then that's one thing, but I've encountered so much of it--especially online--being done in a serious way, in lieu of actual substantive film analysis or critique, that over the years I've developed a real aversion to it. I've heard it described as the 'Cinemasins-ification of film discourse', and though it's been around since long before that particular brand, it's not a bad way of doing so. Not only is a joyless and artless way of looking at fiction, but it's also the case that so often things pointed out as plot 'holes' are anything but! Reddit had this topic on its mind the other day when it asked the question: 'What are some famous movie plot holes that aren't really plot holes?'
