Someone Should Get Fired Over the 'Nuremberg' Trailer

The Nuremberg trials were a series of military tribunals held to prosecute the Nazis after World War II for the atrocities committed during the Holocaust. It was a grim affair. But I guess James Vanderbilt — the writer of Scream VI, Murder Mystery 2, and White House Down — thought he’d depict it as a Gerard Butler movie.

The movie may end up fine, and it could just be a really bad trailer, but it is laughably bad. Like, someone should get fired bad. The film stars Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, Michael Shannon, Leo Woodall, John Slattery, and Colin Hanks, among others. There’s a good cast here, good source material, and the November release date suggests that Sony Classics — an indie film studio — is trying to pull some awards season buzz.

But then there’s the trailer, which — as our own Alexander notes — is like Thunderdome, but for Justice. The tagline is literally “Judgment is Coming.” This is a movie about the Nuremberg trials. What is going on? None of this makes any sense.

Honestly, you have to see it to believe it.
