Amazon/MGM announced that Melania, the documentary they paid a whopping $40 million for, will hit theaters on January 20, 2026. When was the last time anyone saw a $40 million documentary in a movie theater?

Apparently, exceptions are made for the First Lady.

The film follows Melania during the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration.

“Step inside Melania Trump’s world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family. With exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments, ‘Melania’ showcases Mrs. Trump’s return to one of the world’s most powerful roles.”

So, we can pay $15 and another $8 for popcorn to watch the First Lady plan an event? I’d like to say no one in their right mind would watch this, but conservatives have endured far worse to “own the libs.” And I say: go for it! If they don’t want Monday morning’s box office headlines to read “First Lady’s Doc Bombs at the Box Office,” they’d better show up in droves to watch a woman event-plan.

They didn’t even put the Road House reboot in theaters. But this? Sure, why not!

For what it’s worth, the doc will move to streaming after its theatrical run and will be accompanied by a three-episode docuseries about Melania Trump.

And here’s the kicker: Melania was directed by Brett Ratner, his first project since he was canceled over multiple sexual assault allegations in 2017.

For Jeff Bezos, I’m sure it was all worth it. Amazon probably saves $40 million in postage a week because of Bezos’s ability to kiss up to the President.
