When it comes to politics and the current administration, we here at Pajiba aim to target our coverage to the issues that actually matter, not every “outrageous” tweet or utterance from a politician or billionaire. When it comes to entertainment news, however, we will continue to marshall all of our resources to cover absolute nonsense. To wit: Billy Crudup’s testicles.
How we arrived at Billy Crudup’s testicles is actually kind of sweet, notwithstanding Crudup’s less-than-flattering track record in the romance department — Crudup famously left Mary-Louise Parker, while she was seven months pregnant, for Claire Danes, who is now married to Hugh Dancy, who coincidentally always reminded me of a British Billy Crudup. But that was over two decades ago, and now Crudup plays one of the best sleazeballs on television on The Morning Show, and he’s married to Naomi Watts.
Watts has a new memoir arriving today, Dare I Say It, in which she shares insights into her personal life (like the time that her kids with Liev Schrieber found her glow-in-the-dark vibrator on her bed) and her experience with early menopause, which began for Watts when she was 36.
Watts went through the full gamut — night sweats, migraines, mood swings, dry skin, urinary tract infections, thinning hair — and after her relationship with Schrieber ended, she had to navigate dating in Hollywood as a woman who had gone through it (and took hormones to deal with the effects).
That brings us to Crudup, whom she met on their (otherwise forgettable) 2017 series Gypsy. As Watts tells it, via PEOPLE, she had a moment of panic before they spent their first night together.
In her book, she recalls ducking into the bathroom, attempting to scratch off the hormone patch she’d been wearing and then blurting out to Crudup, “I didn’t want you to see it because then you would know I’m in early menopause, which means I am old.”His response? He smiled, offered to help, and then pointed out that they were the same age. “If it makes you feel better,” The Morning Show actor told her, “I’ve got gray hairs on my balls.” Those were, she writes “the most romantic words I’ve ever heard, onscreen or off.”
And that, folks, is how we ended up here, writing about Billy Crudup’s testicles. See, we can chew bubblegum and talk about celebrity testicles at the same time.
