It's wild to think that there was a time when Kevin Smith was the guy in charge, making the young Ben Affleck and Matt Damon stars of his movies. Hell, he was held in such higher regard that rumors persisted that they couldn't have written Good Will Hunting without the writer/director's help. Now, decades later, their careers could not be more different: Damon and Affleck are huge actors and producers, and Smith occupies his own mostly self-made space.

There's still a connection there, despite a falling out between Affleck and Smith. I'm not sure if there was ever any guff between Smith and Damon, but things with Affleck got bad (which was Smith's fault, according to the man himself). Luckily, they reconciled, and that would later become the meta-inspiration for the best (and only good?) scene in the Jay & Silent Bob Reboot. Now, we get to see adorable videos about the two that Smith posts on Instagram.

The first one I saw involved a new Vegan food-oriented review show that Smith co-hosts with his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith. First and foremost, if my kids want to hang out with me when they're older, to the extent Smith's daughter hangs with him, I'll be a happy man. The father-daughter duo cheesily offer Affleck some hummus, and it's very cute. It also has the vibe of "these guys forced their cool friend to do something, and he did because he cares about them." I just liked it.

Later, Smith would post another Affleck-oriented video, albeit without the man himself. The Clerks director made a trip to the offices for Affleck and Damon's production company Artists Equity. While there, he revealed that, in the hallway outside of the offices, Damon and Affleck keep two pieces of memorabilia: Damon's costume from The Martian and Affleck's costume from Zack Snyder's DCU movies. Smith has a big smile on his face, remarking on how adorable it is and reflecting on the pair's bromance.

I remember when Smith would get reflective on his and Affleck's rocky relationship, so it makes me happy to see him on such a gleeful visit to his old friend. Whether he was strictly there for business or trying to have a catch-up with his old friend, it's nice to see that fences have been mended. I like seeing Smith be joyful and bring that joy to Affleck and share it with his daughter. It's Monday, I'm tired, and these clips gave me a nice little boost.
