Justin Baldoni's Lawyers Are Threatening To Depose Taylor Swift

If there’s any overarching theme to my writing career, it’s that I’m just some guy on the internet. I don’t know much about anything save putting a word or two together, and even that’s debatable. So, please keep that in mind as I continue to have absolutely no idea what the hell Justin Baldoni’s legal team is trying to pull.

After Blake Lively torched his career in the days before Christmas, Baldoni has been a man-bunned Streisand effect on wheels. Instead of letting this whole thing blow over and waiting for a chance to rebuild, he’s gone cartoon supervillain to the point where he’s launching weird websites and his lawyers are out here threatening to depose Taylor Swift. The Taylor Swift. The poor woman is staring down a run-in with Trump at the Super Bowl, and now, you’re going to throw this at her? Some feminist ally you are, bud. (Yes, I know all of that was a stretch. Please see my opening remarks.)

In the director’s countersuit, he claims Swift — a close friend of his “It Ends With Us” co-star Lively, 37, — was present at a meeting that took place at Lively’s New York City penthouse where he and the “Gossip Girl” alum allegedly met to go over her rewrite of their movie’s rooftop scene.

Baldoni, 41, claims that during their meeting, Lively attempted to intimidate him by using her relationships with husband Ryan Reynolds and Swift, calling them “absolute titans” as writers and storytellers. He claims she further said, “I’m so lucky to have them as creative barometers” and they are her “dragons” who protect her in her battles.

Baldoni’s lawyers are convinced that Reynolds, Lively, and Swift will “take some legal actions that are beyond the bounds of decency” to avoid any sort of deposition about that night. That said, the only person claiming Swift was there is Justin Baldoni.

So, let’s say she was there: What does that prove? That after everything Baldoni allegedly put her through, Blake Lively wanted to feel as safe as possible by not only inviting her A-list husband, but the most powerful woman in music?

Yeah, bro, definitely go down that path. This is totally how you win.
