Jennifer Garner Once Bit a Dude's Ear Off, Does Not Play

One of my favorite celebrity moments happened back in June 2011, and in hindsight, was most likely the beginning of the end for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s marriage. Here’s the scene: Private photos of Blake Lively had just leaked and were causing a frenzy on the internet as was the custom of the time. Barely 24 hours later, Affleck was photographed with a black eye while walking sheepishly with Garner as they took their daughter for ice cream. The timing could not have been more hilarious. To me, anyway, I love mess!

As we now know, Affleck would later have an alleged dalliance with the nanny, which is a particularly bold move while married to a woman who could wreck him four ways to Sunday. Case in point: Here’s Garner revealing that she once Mike Tyson’d a guy while filming The Kingdom.

Via THR:

“Pete Berg, who was the director, told him to try to kill me. We did not have a lot of choreography, and he told me to do anything I could to survive. He did, and I did, and I ended up scrambling onto his back. I bit his ear, and we have a picture of him missing a chunk of ear, because we were not kidding.”

Some almost 20 years later, they reunited on the set of The Last Thing He Told Me and they went to battle once again. “We went for it in a way that the crew — this was maybe our first or second day of shooting — were like, ‘Can you be careful with her?’ I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, he’s not going to be careful. I’m not going to be careful. Just back out of the way. I have a score to settle here.’ And Sal was with us the entire season. So prepare yourselves.”

Garner revealed all of this to an astonished Nicolaj Coster-Waldau, who couldn’t believe the story or that people in the audience were eating it up. He was quickly put in his place.

“Don’t make me mad,” Garner quipped. “I seem nice. I’ve warned you before.”

How is Ben Affleck even alive, and more importantly, how many times has he heard the words, “Eat your d*mn Jack in the Box or I’ll kick your face off?” Because I bet it’s a lot.

Now to contemplate rewatching The Kingdom, which I haven’t seen in 18 years, but remember being badass. (Please tell Jennifer Garner I said that and did not make a quip about it being a dated war on terror movie. I don’t even know what that is!)
