It Really Is Mind-Boggling How Bad Netflix's 'The Electric State' Was

A few months ago—what feels like years in 2020s time—I sat through Netflix’s The Electric State. It was probably one of the most miserable film experiences I’d ever had the misfortune of enduring.

This hulking monstrosity of grotesque anti-art that somehow cost 320 million dollars to make truly stands as a monument to some of the worst tendencies of modern filmmaking—it’s a stretch to even apply that term to it. One of the wonderful things about the human brain is its ability to repress painful memories, and when I saw that Ryan George and his team over at ‘pitch meeting’ had released a video about The Electric State, I realized that’s exactly what mine had done with that algorithmic gibberish.

So, thanks, I guess(?), Ryan and co., for helping me re-live these moments. I’m assuming it’ll help somehow, right? Right?
