Last year around this time, I wrote an article asking, “Where the hell is Bill Lawrence’s Apple TV+ series, Bad Monkey?” Things had gone quiet — Lawrence hadn’t publicly mentioned the series in over a year. I swear to God, just 12 days after I asked that question, Apple TV+ announced its premiere date, along with the first official photo.
Now, I’m hoping lightning will strike twice — this time with Vince Gilligan’s Apple TV+ series, which the streamer won the rights to more than three years ago. And yet, we’ve heard next to nothing. We know it received a two-season order. We know Rhea Seehorn is the lead. And we know Karolina Wydra, whose last on-camera role was in 2019’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is also in the cast.
We don’t even have a title yet. Wycaro 339 is just a working title. As for the premise? This is the sum total of what’s been shared: “The series is set in a present-day Albuquerque, New Mexico that faced an abrupt change away from the world as it is known.”
That’s it.
Well, we do know a little more: the season will run for nine episodes, and Gilligan is bringing along several of his most trusted collaborators: Peter Gould (who co-ran Better Call Saul), Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, and Jenn Carroll, all veteran writers in the Breaking Bad universe.
So yes, we’re confident this mostly mysterious, still-untitled series is in excellent hands. But it’s time to show us something. We understand post-production can be a beast, but filming wrapped last September. That was nine months ago.
Give us a teaser. A still. A whiff of a trailer. Don’t Cloverfield us, bro!
