Before we begin, let me just say that Emma Stone is an extremely talented actor who can take on any role. Unlike Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone actually could play a tree. I haven’t seen Bugonia yet, but I’m guessing she’s great playing whatever the heck she’s playing in that movie.
Anyway, my point is that if Emma Stone wanted to play Miss Piggy, she could, but the thought would never cross her mind because Emma believes in a little thing called respect. Here’s how she responded when W Magazine dared to ask if she’s playing the iconic Muppet in the upcoming film she’s producing with Jennifer Lawrence:
First of all, that is the biggest insult to Miss Piggy I’ve ever heard, and I will not have her name dragged through the mud like that. Why would I play a literal star? She’s the greatest. No, of course I’m not playing Miss Piggy. And neither is Jen. We pale in comparison. Are you out of your mind? Miss Piggy is playing Miss Piggy. She would be storming out right now at the mere suggestion.
There you have it. Please stop putting in the newspaper that Emma Stone or Jennifer Lawrence is playing Miss Piggy. She will be all Muppet in the grandest of traditions. I’m talking apple boxes, trick photography, some dude with a hand up her — you know what let’s stop right there.
