Three Trailers: A Lot of Sydney Sweeney but We Saved Room for McClarnon, Ruffalo, and Julianne Moore

I don’t know how to feel about this trailer for Tony Tost’s new movie, Americana. Previously Tost created a show called Damnation that I don’t remember. It is a weird cast, and the storyline makes me … uncomfortable? I don’t know. Something is off. But Zahn McClarnon is in it, so I will probably watch it eventually.

Americana also stars Sydney Sweeney, Paul Walter Hauser, Halsey, Simon Rex, and Eric Dane. It opens in theaters on August 22nd.

Before anyone asks, no, Mark-Paul Gosselaar is not in this trailer for Task. It’s Tom Pelphrey, from Iron Fist. But it is Mark Ruffalo in Shaggy Old Dude mode and Martha Plimpton being a queen.

Task comes from Brad Ingelsby, the creator of Mare of Easttown. So just put it on your watchlist right now. It will premiere on HBO sometime this September.

I don’t like Sydney Sweeney enough for her to show up twice in one Three Trailers article. But here she is again! This time starring with Julianne Moore (who I do like) in Echo Valley.

For some reason, my brain confused this with Hallow Road, which I covered a couple of weeks back. So if you’re ever wondering how movies or series get double coverage, just know that my brain is a tangled web of trailers, teasers, and celebrity names, and sometimes they all get jumbled together.

Sometimes, the lagniappe is trashy, ridiculous goodness that I can’t pass up. This week, it’s something that seems meaningful. I don’t speak Spanish, so I don’t know what’s happening in this trailer. I only know what I’ve read online about this upcoming project starring Lux Pascal (yep, Pedro’s sister.)

Directed by Augstina Marci, Miss Carbón tells the true story of the passionate Carla Antonella Rodríguez who, after transitioning, overcame discrimination in the workplace and the archaic superstition that women cause the mines to collapse. She was the first woman in the region [of Argentina] to work in a mine, defying long-held beliefs about gender roles in the country.
