Netflix Sure is Lucky They Had This 'Kimmy Schmidt' 'Lemonade' Parody Lying Around

Even if you completely missed the Grammys last night, you still woke up this morning knowing two things deep down in your gut: Beyoncé is a sun goddess, and the fact that Lemonade was passed over for Album Of The Year is a national travesty. Sure, it helped that Adele spent most of her acceptance speech apologizing for her win, but come on! What does Beyoncé have to do at this point to get an Album Of The Year award? Give birth to her twins in a recording studio and immediately start harmonizing with them? Because if she did that I would be VERY amenable to it!

Our collective sense of loss is good for one thing, at least: it makes this Netflix teaser for the third season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt all the more appropriate for the times. After all, Titus Andromedon (played by Tituss Burgess) is basically the post-Grammys Beyoncé of the Kimmyverse — he’s a queen, he’s better than all of us, and despite all of that he just cannot catch a break sometimes. Also, he makes the similar yet legally distinct version of “Hold Up” sound pretty amazing.

Odds are that Netflix was going to release this teaser whether or not Beyoncé won, since Unbreakable comes out three months from now on May 19 and they really need to get that hype train rolling already. But for now, let us continue to bask in the serendipity of this occasion — and in those ridiculous Titus-ified lyrics. I would kill to see Beyoncé sing “I ain’t playing with you, meatball,” to be perfectly honest. Can Burgess join her and Adele on their inevitable “We’re best friends now and we don’t do music for awards and we hate all of you” collaboration sometime this year?
