Video games don’t get a lot of play (GET IT?!) here at Pajiba. The gamers among us don’t have much time for them anymore, what with full-time jobs and families. I’m lucky when I can get even a couple of hours in over a weekend. But that changes on February 18, when the Playstation-exclusive Horizon: Forbidden West finally drops. Aloy’s coming back to consoles, and I already feel the need for a mental health day. Horizon: Zero Dawn told the story of Aloy, a young Outcast member of the Nora tribe living in post-apocalyptic Colorado after a nanotech plague wipes most of humanity and biological life from the planet. One of the most original and well-told science fiction stories of the last decade unfolded over 40 hours, as Aloy discovered her tribe’s origins and the new apocalypse looming on the horizon. Now, the HADES artificial intelligence is determined to finish purging the planet of organics, and it’s up to Aloy and her allies to stop the AI and its human ally, Sylens. Guerilla Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment just released the first story trailer:

Aloy’s headed to Cali! H:FW promises more of what made the original great. Gorgeous graphics. Robotic animals to hunt and tame. Free-flowing, strategic combat against enemies vastly more powerful than you. Even LOTR-style robot Oliphaunts! And the cast is equally promising. Lance Reddick returns as the enigmatic and dangerous Sylens, a man capable of anything in his hunt for knowledge and power. The game also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, John Hopkins, John Macmillan, and Alison Jate. Noted voice actor Ashly Burch returns as Aloy.

Horizon: Forbidden West is one of the most anticipated games of the Playstation 5 era. If supply chain woes have kept a PS5 out of your hands, don’t worry; the PS4 version is coming on the same day. If you’re a member of the PC Master Race or XBox gamer, well, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a while for your turn to ride a Charger into battle. It’ll reach you eventually, but as of yet, there’s no release date on anything other than Playstation consoles.

Horizon: Forbidden West reaches our shores on February 18. Start planning your sick day excuses now.
