Stop! Stop Whatever You're Doing & Watch The Cast of 'Hamilton' Play The White House

As if tickets for Hamilton weren’t hard enough to get already, today, the cast was invited into the White House for what they’ve been calling #Bam4Ham. And oh dear lord is it everything that’s good in the world.

First, Michelle Obama kicked off events, welcoming the actors, as well as a group of low-income students who would spend the day working on educational projects with the cast.

I highly recommend touring through the #Bam4Ham hashtags on Twitter and Instagram. You know, if you like things that are heartwarming and inspiring. Like, if that’s your thing. (NO YOU’RE CRYING.)

But I’ll let you go through the day at your own pace, so that we can get to the big stuff: THE MUSIC.

As an introduction, Obama told a story of how Miranda attended the White House Poetry Jam 7 years ago and, along with his musical director, Alex Lacamoire, performed a song from an album they were working on “about the life of somebody who embodies hip hop: Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton.” And of course, everybody laughed. But, as Obama says, “WHO’S LAUGHING NOW?”

If you want to hear Obama make drop-dead perfect Hamilton references, swear that a love of the show is the only thing he and Dick Cheney agree on, and petition Miranda to consider a new show about, say, Congress, for example— skip to the 45 minute mark for Obama’s touching, hilarious intro. Then get ready because at the 53:45 mark, the cast takes the stage to perform songs from the show. They start with the opening, titular number in full, before skipping around with a bit of the “Hamilton Mix Tape.”

It is… everything.

Oh, and then LMM and Obama freestyle in the Rose Garden. You know, just a normal day.
