I have a fear, friends. And that is that when you make lists of things you’re thankful for this holiday season, you will have one unacceptable omission. Sure, you may like Kumail Nanjiani. You may think he’s hilarious as that guy on that thing you know him from. But are you TRULY appreciating him to the full extent he deserves? Let’s break this down. With science and facts. Here are all (or many! add your own) the things he’s given us.
His positivity
Kumail guest starred on Bob’s Burgers this weekend, and even though all we had was his voice, we definitely got his full attitude. Just look at this exchange between him and Tom Lennon’s character Chuck:
Chuck: Great, so you’re from Pakistan, you’ve got a successful restaurant, you’re on a book tour. God, what can’t you do?
Skip: Complain? Everything is going so well!
His understanding of feminism.
His openness to new ideas
(Via Tumblr)
He’s a great counterpart for Dan Harmon
We can all agree that any Kumail episode of Harmontown gains +5 charisma, right?
Meltdown
Kumail co-hosts (with Jonah Ray) a weekly comedy show in the back of Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles every Wednesday. The show holds a special place in my heart because when I first moved to LA it was the first place I found that really felt like a community. It’s also the smartest, funniest comedy in town. And now it’s on Comedy Central for the whole world to enjoy!
His awesome wife
Emily Gordon produces Meltdown, co-hosts a video game podcast with Kumail, and has an AWESOME feministy/self-esteem/self-love Tumblr.
His Twitter is the best Twitter
Here’s just a recent sampling:
People pissed about the first guy in the Star Wars trailer being black are gonna be so upset when they find out we have a black president.

I was at a birthday party when I was 8 & a kid pooped himself & I was like "you pooped" & he said "That's not poo that's party cream." #true

I get excited about every single meal. So I'm super excited at least 3 times every day.

His role in the greatest dick joke of all time
And let’s not forget the biggest reason why we love him:
