There was a lot wrong with last night’s Game of Thrones episode, as TK pointed out, but one thing that was perfectly right was the way that Lady Olenna went out. Jaime took Highgarden — and House Tyrell’s gold — without much of an effort, but Lady Olenna took her defeat in stride. She drank the poison that Jaime gave her with a sort of casual indifference, certain not to give Jaime any satisfaction in witnessing her death. And on her way out? She let Jaime know that she killed his “cunt” of a son, Joffrey, and insisted that Jaime let Cersei know.
It was a beautifully badass demise for Olenna, who does not suffer fools even in death. It was poetry.
