On last night’s The Tonight Show, Kit Harington revealed that he spoiled Game of Thrones for a few people — his parents, his girlfriend, and a few select friends — as well as one person from the public, a police officer who pulled him over for speeding. As Harington tells it, the police officer — a Game of Thrones fan — gave him two choices: Either he’d take him in to the station (because it was a bookable offense, given his speed), or Harington would have to reveal if his character survived in the next season.

Harington took the easy way out.

The best part of the story, however, is the police officer’s reaction to Harington divulging the spoiler. “On your way, Lord Commander. Keep the speed down this far south of the wall.”

He also discusses the difficulties involved in keeping his character’s fate a secret from his co-stars, with whom he shared scenes.
