Sometime after Christmas, but before January 1, I caught a glimpse of the Cinnamon Shortbread Latte on the Starbucks drink board while in Target. I ordered it before the barista informed me that the syrup wasn’t unpacked. After two unsuccessful trips back a few days later, where my husband was told the drink didn’t exist, I finally saw it again today.

SUCK IT, EVERYONE WHO THOUGHT I MADE IT UP. I make up better stuff than a Starbucks latte, like the backstories for random people in the stands at football games. A lot of people with weird fetishes.

Anyway, I ordered myself a grande and took my first sip while at a red light on my way home. Do you remember my review of the obviously sent here from Heaven and made by angels Snickerdoodle Hot Chocolate?

“It tastes like Henry Cavill stuffing chewy snickerdoodles he made JUST FOR YOU in your mouth while cooing “Don’t worry about gaining weight. I’ll still love you.” Like, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. version of Cavill but with his actual accent.”

This glorious Cinnamon Shortbread Latte hits all of the same notes of delicious, warm ecstasy while toning down the richness of the Snickerdoodle Hot Chocolate and adding life-giving coffee into the mix.

The Starbucks website describes it with less flowery language, touting the latte as “Rich espresso with buttery vanilla shortbread sauce, topped with a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg.”

They aren’t wrong. It’s a perfect blend of the vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg that doesn’t overpower or get lost in the coffee itself. It makes an excellent treat yo’self drink while erring on the less sugary side of things (well, Starbucks things).
