Remember back in 2024, when Warner Brothers tried to bury the Looney Tunes live-action/animated hybrid Coyote vs. ACME for a $40 million tax write-off? It was definitely a boneheaded creative decision. I hope that it was also a boneheaded financial decision, too.
We will find out on August 28th, when the film - since picked up for distribution by Ketchup Entertainment — will finally be released into theaters. The trailer is here, and honestly, it looks like a blast. I love the conceit, too. After being blown up by ACME products for years - in furtherance of his plots against the Road Runner — the Coyote decides to sue ACME. Coyote is defended by a lawyer played by Will Forte. John Cena is defending the big, bag ACME corporation.
It’s an underdog movie. And the Coyote is the underdog. That’s fun. The film, written by — among others — James Gunn, also stars Lana Condor. Here’s the trailer:
