A new full-length trailer dropped for Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria remake, and it looks GOOD. The bare bones seem to match the original: a mysterious and moody dance company in Europe deals with madness, death, and seriously spooky evil. Dakota Johnson stars as the latest dancer to join, under the totally-not-menacing-at-all direction of Tilda Swinton.
If you’re looking for one of those trailers that gives you the whole plot in a nutshell — this ain’t that (also, stop looking for those kinds of trailers, they’re the worst). Instead, you’ll get over two minutes of tantalizing dread, weird spectral shit, some suspiciously drab exteriors, and zero blood. I have a feeling this trailer is only scratching the surface of what the film has in store…
The big reveal is that the film is introducing the Three Mothers, which is also the name of a trilogy of Dario Argento films (consisting of the original Suspiria, Inferno, and Mother of Tears). Each film focused on one of a trio of ancient witches. Will this film introduce all three? We’ll have to wait and see.
For my part, I’m still holding out hope that Guadagnino will reintroduce the world to the true star of the original film: that haphazard pile of razor wire.
WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE THAT SH*T OUTSIDE OF A SCHOOL?!
