Ben Affleck's Planned Next Movie Hits Close to Home

Jennifer Garner’s next film is Peppermint, a.k.a., Jennifer Garner’s Death Wish, due out on September 7th, and fortunately, it appears to have no real-life parallels. The same, however, cannot be said of Ben Affleck’s next scheduled project, which is called, I kid you not, The Has-Been. But the similarities do not end there. The film, originally reported on back in June, is set to begin shooting on October 25th.

Last night, Jennifer Garner drove Ben Affleck to his third rehab stint, and if it sticks — and Affleck is able to begin production on time for the film, directed by his The Accountant director Gavin O’ Connor — it’s probably going to resonate for the Batman actor very loudly.

Here’s the logline:

“Former high school basketball superstar Jack Cunningham (Affleck) has descended into alcoholism in the aftermath of the loss of his career and the end of his marriage following the death of his 9 year old son. When he’s asked to coach the under-performing basketball team at Bishop Hayes High- his old alma mater-he briefly hops on the wagon, but even the team’s success at his hands isn’t enough to get the monkey off his back, and he slips back into alcoholism. Finally, with the help of his family, he winds up in rehab, where a sober Jack realizes he just might have a shot at getting his life back again.”

It’s either going to be the worst possible film for Affleck to make right after leaving rehab or the best possible movie.

It’s also worth noting that high-school basketball player is not new for Affleck, who played one in the 1992 Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.
