Even after they began casting and shooting Top Gun Maverick, I maintained my doubts that a sequel to a 34-year-old movie would ever actually happen. But, by God, if that’s what Tom Cruise wants, that’s what Tom Cruise gets. Cruise actually debuted the trailer today with a surprise appearance at Comic-Con.
The film stars Cruise, Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, and Jennifer Connelly. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Christopher McQuarrie, it will arrive in theaters in 2020.
