The Silent Hour trailer immediately reminded me of 1967’s Wait Until Dark. That movie starred Audrey Hepburn as a blind woman trying to outsmart two thugs played by Alan Arkin and Richard Crenna. The casting seems weird now, but trust me, it worked.
The Silent Hour stars Joel Kinnaman, Mark Strong, Mekhi Phifer, Michael Eklund (Antlers), and Sandra Mae Frank (New Amsterdam). It’s about a deaf woman being pursued by thugs with the help of a partially deaf cop.
The Silent Hour is directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist, Session 9) and opens in theaters on October 11th.
I’m not sure who looked at Eddie Redmayne and said, “Yes, he is exactly what a daring international spy looks like.” It’s possible that the pitch only worked on the condition that they add a scene where he peels a mask off like a second skin in Peacock’s upcoming series The Day Of The Jackal.
With all respect to Edward Fox, The Jackal is Bruce freakin’ Willis. But I am excited to see Lashana Lynch in this.
The Day Of The Jackal begins on Peacock November 7th.
There’s nothing you can do to convince me the script for Subservience didn’t come straight out of someone’s masturbatory fantasy. Megan Fox as a sexbot robot nanny who gets really naughty? Come on now. I can’t believe it took this long for someone to finance this one.
Subservience will be available on digital and VOD beginning September 13th
Why yes, I do have another animated show in this week’s lagniappe. I do what I want with this half-inch of space at the bottom of the column!
Terminator Zero premieres on Netflix on August 29th and stars Timothy Olyphant, Rosario Dawson, Sonoya Mizuno, André Holland, and Ann Dowd. You’re welcome.
