A trailer that goes over three minutes usually feels a little thirsty, like it wants audiences to see all its cool toys so that they will fork over $15 for a ticket. But the other side of the double-edged sword is that the whole movie has been reduced to three minutes. Venom takes over a horse. What else do I need to see? Surely, nothing can be as cool as that.
Here’s the Venom 3 trailer, with a subtitle — The Last Dance — that suggests this is the end of the series … unless it does really well. Considering the drop-off between the first ($850 million) and the second ($500 million worldwide), the general superhero fatigue, the dearth in quality of Sony’s non-Spidey superhero movies, and the declining overall interest in moviegoing, I doubt we’re going to be watching The Last Last Dance anytime soon.
Venom 3: The Last Dance arrives in theaters in October. It also stars Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
