The trailer for the long-in-development remake of The Crow is finally here. I don’t know how many iterations the remake went through in development since 2008, but among those in consideration for the lead over the years were Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling, James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans, Nicholas Hoult, and Tom Hardy. There have been just as many in consideration for the female lead (including Kristen Stewart and Jessica Brown Findlay) and director, including Ridley Scott and Stephen Norrington.
They finally managed to make the damn thing with Bill Skarsgård (It), FKA Twigs, and Rupert Sanders as director. Here’s the trailer. You can draw your own conclusions.
It has the B-movie feel and the ultraviolence down, but it looks so dark that it loses its sense of fun. The OG The Crow reminds me of Nine Inch Nails. This one looks more like Imagine Dragons. It’s like The Crow has been put through the John Wick AI, although I won’t rule out that it could be considerably better than the trailer looks.
The Crow opens on June 7th.
