Stellan Skarsgård is keeping busy. 2025 saw him in the impeccable second season of Andor and gave him one of his best movie roles in years with Sentimental Value. The latter has him receiving a lot of Best Supporting Actor buzz, which feels long overdue. Seriously, Stellan Skarsgård doesn’t have an Oscar nomination already? Sacrilege. Do you know what would finally win him one? An all Skarsgård movie.
While on the red carpet for last night’s Critics Choice Awards, Variety (via Reddit) asked him if he ever got any film offers for roles where he could act alongside one of or all his sons. ‘Never’, he replied. ‘What would they write for seven sons?’ He asked. Uh, the best movie ever?
Stellan is a father of eight: Alexander, Gustaf, Sam, Bill, Eija, Valter, Ossian, and Kolbjörn. He had a vasectomy in 2016 because he felt that eight was enough. Five of those sons are actors, and I’ll hazard a bet that most of you know who they are. Alexander is Murderbot and a full-time red carpet menace. Gustaf was in Vikings. Bill is Pennywise. Valter is on the popular Swedish crime series Beck, and Kolbjörn, the baby of the family, was recently in the Swedish horror TV series Blood Cruise.
We think it’s imperative to art US-Swedish relations, and world peace that we get an all-Skarsgård movie or TV series. Maybe Knives Out 4 is the full smorgasbord of Swede? Or a big Viking historical drama about a warring family? Perhaps the third Mamma Mia movie can make good use of this clan and their deep cultural roots with ABBA.
Also present alongside Stellan this awards season is Alexander, who stars in Pillion. Here he is being the oldest kid and a total nuisance on the red carpet with his dad. Too adorable. So tall. Give me that all-Skarsgård film.
Long may the Skarsgård Dynasty reign.
For about 1:26, #SentimentalValue star Stellan Skarsgård had absolutely no idea that his son Alexander Skarsgård is fully breathing down his neck at the #CriticsChoiceAwards on Sunday evening.
