The writer of Juror #2 is Jonathan A. Abrams, making his feature screenwriting debut. I mention this because it feels like an adaptation of a John Grisham or Michael Connelly novel, and I mean that as a compliment.
Nicholas Hoult plays Juror #2. One late night, he thinks he hit a deer, assuming it ran off into the weeds. But when he’s called to jury duty, he realizes he didn’t hit a deer—he hit the victim. I’m not sure if it’s a moral dilemma: is he trying to convince the jury not to convict because he’s the real killer, or is he trying to convince them to convict to divert suspicion from himself? Maybe Juror #2 was more involved with the victim than he’s letting on.
It’s unclear! What is clear, though, is this looks like my kind of film. It’s also the typically prolific Eastwood’s first directing effort since the pandemic, and at 94 years old, you never know which film might be his last.
Juror #2 hits theaters in November and also features Toni Collette, J. K. Simmons, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris Messina, and Zoey Deutch.
