Do you know what you get when you continually refer to badass, fully grown women as “girls?” You get a gunpowder milkshake in your face.

While StudioCanal doesn’t give us a date here, we do get the first official trailer of this stacked-cast movie and a promise of being able to put our eyeballs on it “soon” on Netflix.

First I need to talk about the fact that the hideout is in a library. A library full of hollowed-out books where they hide weapons. It’s all of my violent-nerd-girl dreams come true!

Karen Gillan is Eva, an assassin who botches a job to save a young girl’s life. As any viewer of Jason Statham’s oeuvre could tell you, this was a mistake. Now Eva must team up with her estranged mother and her super lethal coffee klatch to protect the girl and take out the bad guys who have been sent after them.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy when you’ve got a crew like this on your side: Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh, Carla Gugino, and Lena Headey. All women who have proven, again and again, in various projects that they can beat you up, make smart remarks and look super fine doing it all. Michelle Yeoh is fifty-eight years old and you would have to be a damn fool to mess with her!

I’m excited to see Gillan moving up in the action movie world from full body paint and family friendly remakes. She has earned her place among this pantheon of seasoned stars. And the more women we have making action films - both in front of and behind the camera - the better the genre is going to get. Let’s do this, ladies!
