She’s been in a few movies, but I’m not sure that we’ve seen Meg Ryan in anything recognizable since maybe 2008’s The Women? In What Happens Later, she returns to the genre that made her famous — romcoms — and directs herself alongside David Duchovny. It’s basically Before Sunrise crossed with Tom Hanks’ The Terminal: Two exes reconnect in an airport, where they’re stranded overnight. It looks cute.
What Happens Later hits theaters on October 13th. That’s 2023, not 1993.
