Right up front, I’m hesitant to write this post because, on the one hand, if Captain Marvel doesn’t beat every single comic book movie by a trillion dollars, low-level “men” on the internet will move the goalposts and argue that it’s a failure even though it is clearly not. On the other hand, my absolute jam is making sure those low-level “men” know that their thoughts and opinion are hilariously insignificant because despite all of their proclamations that Captain Marvel is a flop, its advance ticket sales are already outpacing a buttload of superhero films to the point where it’s only behind Black Panther.
SYFY WIRE reports:
“If we’re looking at superhero origin stories, Black Panther is No. 1, Captain Marvel is now No. 2,” Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis tells SYFY WIRE. “So it’s outpacing films like Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Deadpool, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange. It’s outpacing all of those films in advance ticket sales at the same point in the sales cycle.”
The early reviews for Captain Marvel are overwhelmingly positive, and according to Davis, that’s definitely playing a role in its already steady climb in presale tickets. It’s almost like Marvel knows what it’s doing, and only a complete f*cking idiot would bet against them at this point. You’d have to be severely triggered to not see these glowing reviews coming a mile away:
#CaptainMarvel is (takes deep 90s breath) TOTALLY AWESOME. Never related to a Marvel character quite like Carol. She’s the stubborn witty 90s kid I like to think I am. pic.twitter.com/H6Q9s90KHA

#CaptainMarvel is a great origin story. Brie’s buddy cop chemistry with @SamuelLJackson is so much fun and her relationship with Lashana Lynch is the real heart of it. Ben Mendelsohn and the cat both steal the show.

Captain Marvel is an effective Avengers prequel in some ways akin to the 1st Captain America movie. It’s pro-woman without being overdone with pre and post credit scenes that made me tear up and gave me goosebumps respectively pic.twitter.com/or2Oj7CdRV

#CaptainMarvel is a welcome addition to the #MCU. The movie is really well done with some great moments. #benmendelsohn steals almost every scene he's in. @brielarson literally shines in the role. So ready for #AvengersEndGame pic.twitter.com/GET0socRjl

#ComicsGate is nothing.
