It’s been in cinemas for two weeks but Toy Story 5 is already the sixth highest-grossing movie of 2026. Domestically, the Pixar sequel stayed in the top spot, even with a 56% drop from opening weekend, with $70 million. In America, it’s earned over $297.2 million so far. Worldwide, it’s at $585,041,642.
It more than held onto the top spot against Supergirl. The new era of DC has to contend with a paradigm shift as audiences finally felt the brunt of superhero fatigue, but this latest one, starring Milly Alcock, also struggled with middling reviews. It debuted at number two with a pretty brutal $38 million from 3,602 locations. Are audiences just done with these franchises, or is it on a movie-by-movie basis? I hope we don’t see anyone crediting the sexist losers who tried to “boycott” this movie for its under-performance. Sometimes, viewers are just not interested.
Obsession continues a dominant box office run and is now the eighth highest-grossing film of the year, leapfrogging over both The Mandalorian & Grogu and Backrooms with its $370.1 million worldwide gross.
The Jackass guys returned to our screens, ready to sacrifice their bodies for our sins. Jackass: Best and Last smashed into number four with $8.4 million. That’s low for these dudes but will hopefully still cover their health insurance premiums.
Anime time: BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity, the latest movie in one of the most popular manga/anime series of all time, landed at number with eight with $3 million from 943 theatres.
In limited release news: Lucky Strike, a war drama starring Scott Eastwood, grossed $776,796 from 722 cinemas; The Invite, a relationship drama starring and directed by Olivia Wilde, took in $379,104 from seven places; Couture, a drama set in the fashion world and starring Angelina Jolie, earned $135,306; and the Spanish film Romería made $18,500.
This coming week sees the release of Minions & Monsters. Be prepared.
