I’m sure some of you already knew this (and I’m sure that, as this is the Internet, some of those who already knew this will be sure to tell me that you already knew this), but I found out last weekend that one of my favorite shows, The Knick, features The Guy Who Was Max Headroom in a supporting role, and no one ever told me about it?!
The dude’s real name is Matt Frewer, and he played Dr. J.M. Christiansen, Clive Owen’s dear departed mentor who pops up occasionally throughout the season. This guy:
Is this guy:
Is this guy from Orphan Black:
Is this guy in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids:
And is a bunch of other people besides. MY LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE! I feel a little bad about not realizing Frewer had done—and continues to do—so much other stuff, but he doesn’t seem at all bitter about being known primarily as “the Max Headroom guy,” so there’s that.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for more Flashback Frewer—wearing impractically white shoes, as all the doctors do—when season two of The Knick premieres on October 16th. If I can distract myself from wondering when the next time Algernon will be on-screen is.
