Vin Diesel is being sued by his former assistant, Asta Jonasson. The lawsuit brought against him in Los Angeles outlines claims of “discrimination based on sex/gender, intentional infliction of emotional distress, hostile work environment, wrongful termination, and retaliation.”
The alleged incident occurred in 2010 during the production of Fast Five, where Jonasson began working at One Race, Diesel’s production company.
Jonasson, a recent film school graduate, had been hired to organize events and accompany Diesel to parties. The suit alleges that Jonasson was left alone one night in Diesel’s hotel suite after he entertained hostesses from a club. It was during this time that Diesel allegedly assaulted her.
According to Vanity Fair, Diesel forcibly advanced on Jonasson in a hotel room, grabbing her wrists, attempting to pull her onto the bed, and groping her. The lawsuit contends that Diesel escalated the assault by pushing her dress up, molesting her, and forcing her to touch his erection while he masturbated.
Jonasson claims she was terminated by Samantha Vincent, Diesel’s sister and the president of One Race, only hours after the event. Jonasson signed an NDA at the time of her firing, but recent developments in California allow signees to disregard NDAs in cases of sexual assault and harassment.
Diesel’s attorney denies the claims, asserting that Diesel had never heard of this “more than 13-year-old claim made by a purportedly 9-day employee.”
The lawsuit also claims the incident was not isolated; a few days before the alleged assault, another One Race supervisor allegedly made inappropriate advances toward Jonasson in his hotel room.
Jonasson claims she suffered humiliation, emotional distress, and physical and mental pain and anguish as a result of the alleged assault and subsequent termination.
