Yesterday may have been Labor Day, but, at last night’s Beyoncé concert in L.A., Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner put in the work. The pair officially debuted their love after months of speculation, break-up rumors, car photos, and Instagram detective work. And it wasn’t just a public appearance; it was full-on PDA in the VIP box! Here’s TMZ’s video:

Hmmm. Even if their love is real, this is obviously a calculated performance. How does that conversation go beforehand? “Can we make out?” “Yes, but go easy on the tongue. Mom says it should read as romantic.” Kylie was probably refreshing TMZ every ten minutes during the concert to see if the video had been uploaded. Hell, maybe Timothée was too. Just because he starred in some artsy independent flicks doesn’t mean he’s not completely up his own ass re: fame. Case in point: the man’s dating Kylie Jenner.

But Kythée’s couple debut did not come without controversy. Denizens of the Internet aren’t thrilled about this video of Timothée smoking a cigarette in public:

The people have questions: were non-celebrities allowed to smoke at the concert (LOL NO)? Is Timothée ashing his ciggie onto the heads of the commoners below (LOL MAYBE)? Doesn’t he know that smoking kills (LOL YES)??

Kylie and Timothée hung out in the VIP box with Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Justin Bieber, and Hailey Bieber. The couple was also in the same section as Timothée’s Dune co-star Zendaya, her boyfriend Tom Holland, Quinta Brunson and Ayo Edebiri. Other celeb attendees at last night’s Renaissance concert included Beyoncé superfan Adele, Katy Perry, Normani, Kate Hudson, Lizzo, and Chris Rock (fresh off his escape from Burning Man).

Last night was Beyoncé’s 42nd birthday, so it was a great night to see the show. The legendary Diana Ross made a surprise appearance and led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday”. After Bey received a minute-long standing ovation, she gave a tearful speech expressing her thanks. Hopefully Timothée paid his respects to the Virgo Queen and paused his ciggie during this heartfelt moment.
