The Disappointing Reason Why This Christina Hendricks Ad Was Banned In the U.K.

If I were to tell you I wanted to show you a commercial starring Christina Hendricks that couldn’t be shown on British television, you’d think you were about to have the best 30 seconds of your day, right? Well, I’ve got some disappointment for you.

Yes, that’s the ad that was banned in the U.K. Not because it’s super racy, but because HAIR DOESN’T DO THAT. One box of semi-permanent drugstore hair dye will NOT bring your hair from bright red to light blonde (or from dark brown to strawberry blonde, as I wish someone would have told high school Me). In fact, to shoot the commercial, Clairol utilized the *amazing magic* of filmmaking and started with Hendricks’ hair blonde first, then dyed it red. But apparently in the U.K., they’re not so cool with commercials that straight-up lie to you, and the Advertising Standards Authority says that the ad “misleadingly exaggerated the capability of the product.” Hence, BANNED.

Are you still disappointed by the lack of Hendricks heat? (And maybe also by the lies told to you by beauty products?) Here, this might help.

Not enough? Still disappointed? Here’s my interpretation of TK’s cat this time of year.

And finally, here’s the cutest damn thing you’ll see all day.

Disappointment: ended.
