— Out in Texas, a couple with an immunocompromised infant son decided to go on a much-needed date night and wisely decided to wear a mask while they were out so as to protect their kid. They were asked to leave by the restaurant, which has a no-mask policy. I should note here, too, that those who are immunocompromised are at risk for more than just COVID-19 infections. The flu, or even a simple cold, can be risky for immunocompromised folks, so mask-wearing even outside the context of a pandemic is wise.

— You may have seen the horrible story out of Germany, where a 49-year-old man opposed to the country’s pandemic restrictions, shot and killed a young gas-station attendant for refusing to sell the man a beer at a gas station because he refused to wear a mask. The radicalization of anti-maskers clearly extends beyond America’s borders.

— Lauren Pefferle, a special education assistant at an elementary school in Oregon, has been placed on administrative for protesting the school’s vaccine mandate by dressing as Rosa Parks. Yes, she wore blackface, proving that the Venn Diagram for anti-vaxxers and racists is a single circle.

— Out in Michigan, meanwhile, an anti-masker attempted to run a public health official off the road, twice, for enacting a mask mandate in schools. The same health official stated that he had someone yell at him, “Hey mother******, I hope someone abuses your kids and forces you to watch.” All of this over a thin layer of protection.

Breitbart has introduced a new conspiracy theory, arguing that Howard Stern and Democrats are using reverse psychology to manipulate conservatives into not getting the vaccine because we want Trump voters to die.

If I wanted to use reverse psychology to convince people not to get a life-saving vaccination, I would do exactly what Stern and the left are doing… I would bully and taunt and mock and ridicule you for not getting vaccinated, knowing the human response would be, Hey, f—k you, I’m never getting vaccinated!

— A subbreddit, r/HermanCainAward, has become wildly popular for cataloging the deaths of those opposed to vaccines and masking. There are around 300,000 subscribers. As Slate points out, it is grim, but not just from a ruthless schadenfreude standpoint. It’s even more grim because the prideful families of those who die so easily normalize their otherwise preventable deaths.

— Finally, health officials are warning those who COVID infections not to inhale hydrogen peroxide through nebulizers to treat symptoms, a practice that is being touted on social media. From The Washington Post:

Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic more commonly used to prevent infection from minor cuts, burns and scrapes. It is also used as a tooth whitener in some toothpastes, and as a common household cleaning agent.

But it can be poisonous for humans if swallowed in strong enough concentrations. The AAFA recommends against inhaling it in through a nebulizer, a medical machine which turns medications into breathable mist.

So, yes: Don’t breathe in the chemical used to whiten teeth into your lungs. It’s bad.
