Disturbing details on Matthew Perry’s death investigation from the US Attorney’s Office & DEA, per CNN’s Elizabeth Wagmeister:
— 5 defendants, including 2 doctors & Perry’s live-in assistant, have been charged in connection with the actor’s death.
— Perry became addicted to ketamine when seeking treatment. He was taken advantage of by doctors who sold him ketamine for thousands of dollars.
— Text messages between the 2 doctors reveal they knew they were taking advantage of Perry: “I wonder how much this moron will pay.”
— One of the doctors sold ketamine to Perry’s live-in assistant & taught the assistant how to inject Perry with the ketamine, knowing he was not a medical professional.
Perry then sought to obtain ketamine for less money than from doctors, so he obtained drugs from “street dealers” via his assistant, per the DEA.
— The ketamine that ultimately led to Perry’s death was sold by these street dealers. Perry’s assistant was the one who injected the ketamine on October 28, 2023 - the day Perry died.
— After Perry’s death was reported in the news, one of the street dealers text the other: “Delete all our messages.”

Several arrests have been made in connection with the death of Friends star Matthew Perry, including that of a doctor, as well as several dealers. The arrested individuals are facing federal charges associated with the ketamine-related death of Perry last year. The DEA, LAPD, the USPS, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office were involved in the investigation, which resulted in the early morning arrests. Charges will be announced in a press conference later today.
54-year-old Perry, recall, was found face down and unresponsive in the heated end of a pool at his Los Angeles home. An autopsy revealed his death was due to the acute effects of ketamine, with drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine effects listed as contributing factors. Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, but the ketamine in his system at the time of death was not from his last known therapy session, according to the medical examiner. This discrepancy has been a focal point of the investigation. The ketamine in his system was the equivalent amount to that used in general anesthesia.
The investigation will no doubt raise questions about the regulation and distribution of ketamine, particularly in its use for mental health and substance abuse issues. Perry had been sober for nearly two years at the time of his death, and no illicit drugs or drug paraphernalia were otherwise found at his house.
