Rebecca Ferguson Reveals She Was Screamed At by a Former 'Idiot of a Co-Star'

On the Reign with Josh Smith podcast (via Yahoo), Rebecca Ferguson recently recounted her refusal to work with a co-star because he screamed and yelled at her on set. Ferguson, who appears in the Dune sequel this weekend, said that her “absolute idiot of a co-star” exhibited unprofessional behavior, berated her, and questioned her acting ability.

“I remember there was a moment and this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out,” she said. “And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at. But because this person was number one on a call sheet, there was no safety net for me. So no one had my back. And I would cry walking off set.”

“This person would literally look at me in front of the whole crew and say ‘You call yourself an actor?’, ‘This is what I have to work with?’ and ‘What the f**** is this?’

Despite her initial apprehension, Ferguson eventually confronted the situation and insisted that she no longer work with the actor and told him to “F off.”

“You get off my set. I’m gonna work [with] a tennis ball I never wanna see you again,” Ferguson told her co-star, who the director of the movie described as “unstable.”

Although Ferguson teased that she would reveal who the actor was, she ultimately declined, saying only that it was not Tom Cruise or Hugh Jackman. She also said that it happened within the last 10 or 12 years, a period in which she co-starred with Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal (Life), Ewan McGregor (Doctor Sleep), Michael Fassbender (The Snowman), and the notoriously prickly Hugh Grant (Florence Foster Jenkins). It is unclear to whom she is referring. Still, it is worth noting that in press interviews, she displays great chemistry with McGregor, she said she and Fassbender sang and had snowball fights on set, and her body language suggested warmth between her and Jake Gyllenhaal.

She has no interviews with Hugh Grant, who has confessed in the past that a number of his female co-stars hate him. It would, however, be unprofessional for us to speculate about whom Ferguson is referring, and I’m sure it’s a coincidence that, in the few press photos that exist of the two, she stands as far away from a certain co-star as possible.
