Here’s Paul Rudd on the field after the Kansas City Royals beat the New York Mets to take this year’s World Series last night, their first in 30 years. Rudd is a Kansas City native and the only person you probably know that loves the Kansas City Royals (outside of Kansas City, of course). He’s as giddy as a school boy, and by that, I mean: He’s acting very much like a 10 year old who was just told he was about to go to Disney World, as he shows off the three T-shirts he’s been wearing for good luck.
You know that’s why the Royals won, don’t you? Because Rudd has been wearing the same shirt for a very long time.
Superstition works, guys. You just have to remain committed to it. That’s the problem with the Mets fans: They wash their T-shirts. If you really love your team, you let the filth build and the pit stains turn crunchy.
