Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty are being sued for allegedly harassing a woman he attempted to rape in 1994. Petty was arrested on suspicion of rape and pleaded guilty to attempted rape, serving four and a half years in prison. His victim claimed that she was attacked at knifepoint by Petty when she was 16 years old. The victim, who is now 43, has now filed suit against both Minaj and Petty, who married in 2019 and have an 11-month-old son. She is claiming that the pair have been harassing and intimidating her to force her to recant her story.

The lawsuit, filed in the US district court for the eastern district of New York, claims Minaj offered her $500,000 to drop her story. Minaj allegedly called the woman, who was contacted by a childhood friend who acted as an intermediary between her and Minaj. This came after Petty was arrested in California in March 2020 for failing to register as a sex offender in the state.

After the victim declined the offer, she says that she and her family ‘suffered an onslaught of harassing calls and unsolicited visits.’ It is then claimed the accuser’s brother called her and stated two people contacted a family member saying Minaj had offered half a million dollars if she wrote a letter recanting her rape allegation against Petty. After another alleged bribe offer, Minaj is said to have offered the woman a video message for her daughter’s 16th birthday ‘as a bonus.’

The suit says that the woman has not worked since May 2020 ‘due to severe depression, paranoia, constant moving, harassment and threats’ from Minaj, Petty, and their associates. Minaj has not yet publicly commented on the lawsuit, nor has her legal team responded. Last week, she dropped ‘Mrs. Petty’ from her Twitter bio.
