In sad but responsible news, our beloved Navarro Community College Cheer squad will not be able to compete this year in Daytona, because it, like everything else, has been cancelled.

Yes, our beloved squad, which still consists of Jerry, La’Darius, and Lexi, among others, is not going to compete because the responsible thing to do here is not bring a bunch of people from around the country to a large gathering and let them jump on top of each other while we have a global pandemic going on.

The team, as you can probably guess, is upset. Per People.com:

After news of Daytona’s cancellation broke, several members of the cheer squad spoke out about their disappointment in not being able to compete this year.

“This isn’t goodbye Navarro 2020 it’s see you later. Daytona you will be missed and greatly appreciated,” La’Darius Marshall shared on Instagram Sunday. “I love everyone one of my teammates and all the love we shared.”

If you want to feel doubly bad about this, because it’s a mild distraction, here’s the post it was pulled from. So far, no word from Lexi and Jerry, but I’m sure they’re equally as bummed out because this sucks:

This isn’t goodbye Navarro 2020 it’s see you later. Daytona you will be missed and greatly appreciated. I love everyone one of my teammates and all the love we shared. The end of my cheerleading career has come a bit early. For everyone who supported me all this way I want to say thank you and I love you. I’m heartbroken for my team and coaches. Long live the bright light we all shared together and the countless fullouts we have done to get ready for this competition. I never got to say goodbye to my brothers and sisters but I know we all love each other dearly. To the rest of the world I love you guys and thank you for being our #1 supporters. We love you FIOFMU ❤️🖤

If this bums you out, like it bums me out, you can always watch Cheer, which is truly one of the most uplifting shows I’ve seen in a long time. We’re all in this together, so do what you gotta do to get through it, and please, for the love of God, stay in your home while you do it.
