Lady Gaga is responsible for lots of things. Dresses made of meat, dresses made of Kermits, 90% of my personal joy and happiness. Lots of things. But today I learned that her dad has given us an even greater gift. Her dad was an early pioneer of hotel wi-fi.

Declared “the godfather of hotel wi-fi,” Joe Germanotta started Guest WiFi back in 2002, a time most of us didn’t even know the term “wi-fi.” Starting with a New Jersey Holiday Inn, Germanotta’s company amassed 70 hotels and conference centers. He now works for his daughter, running House of Gaga Publishing, the company that handles publishing her music, but next time you’re at a hotel and watch YouTube videos on your phone, you thank your lord and Gaga(’s dad).
