On Thursday it was reported that Mauricio Umanksy—estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards and reality star in his own right with Buying Beverly Hills, which documents the luxury real estate business he runs with his and Richards’s three daughters—moved out of the family home he shares with his wife and children and into a West Hollywood luxury condo. Sources tell US Weekly that Matt Damon also owns a unit in the building, reportedly worth $8.6 million.
The first couple of RHOBH announced their separation in July of last year but have not yet filed for divorce and maintain that they don’t intend to. “They both agreed it’s too messy financially as Kyle has a huge stake in The Agency,” the source said of plans to divorce, referring to Umansky’s real estate business.
But now, with both of their busy schedules calling for them to travel away from home frequently (part of the cause of the separation in the first place?), they have been “living separately for the last few months,” and they each stay at the primary residence while the other is not there.
After that news broke, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Richards had removed her married name from her Instagram. What used to read “Kyle Richards Umansky” now reads “Kyle Richards,” though she still includes “wife” in her bio.
She also posted a story of a monogram necklace she bought herself for Mother’s Day with the initials “KRE,” the “E” representing her middle name, “Egan.”
Kyle tends to do things like this publicly and then avoid any discussion of it on the show at all costs. For someone who’s lived her adult life on reality TV for a decade now—and whose family strife is now being documented in not one but two shows—she’s extremely private. Such is her right, but this isn’t a woman who casually removes names from social media bios and posts about monograms without knowing what it signals to viewers. She’s telling us the writing is on the wall. I’ll bet Umanksy will buy her out of her stake in the business sometime soon.
