Kristen Bell Won't Let Her Daughter Watch 'Frozen'
I don’t have kids yet, but I have a lot of friends (and coworkers!) who do so I know the kind of hell that was unleashed on their lives when Frozen came out, and that most of them have only just gotten past the bulk of the demands about building snowmen or letting it go. Well, I’m about to ignite a white-hot hatred in all of you, because it turns out that one of the people responsible for your misery hasn’t even let her own daughter see the movie.
Kristen Bell’s older daughter, Lincoln, turns two this month, and in an interview with Us Weekly, she discusses how she and husband Dax Shepard have handled her media exposure:
“The APA recommends that you let kids watch TV when they’re 2 and a half, so we’re trying to follow that, which unfortunately is not realistic for all parents — I understand, we’re shooting for the moon” she went on to add “But she’s certainly seen videos, she loves the hell out of Snoopy! But we’re trying. She certainly hasn’t seen anything Frozen.” The Frozen freeze out won’t last forever though: “Because one day when I show it to both my girls together, it will have significance to them and their dynamic. I’m really excited about that because I think it really says something really special about sisters.”
Every interview I hear from Bell or Shepard makes it clear that they’re engaged, thoughtful, loving parents and it’s lovely to see them set this kind of example. As she said, it’s not necessarily realistic for all parents, but if it works for them then it works for them. Still, that’s at least one toddler on the planet who has never berated her parents to play Elsa again, and it seems like that’s something to be jealous of these days.
