Katy Perry Is An Entertainment Powerhouse

As our wonderful Craig Wack mentioned yesterday, Katy Perry showed up on ESPN’s College Gameday as the celebrity guest picker. And while he showed us how that happened and provided a short clip and some pictures, the full video is definitely worth watching because Ms.Perry is an entertainer at the top of her field and no matter what your feelings on college football (mine are firmly in the *shrug* category) or her music, she makes this worth watching.

When you stop to think how much research clearly went into her appearance; info about Ole Miss, the hosts of Gameday, the teams playing, internet memes regarding the teams playing, what the players look like, etc. it’s amazing how casually she tosses off all these references and quips. If the Twitter invite Mr.Wack mentioned was genuinely when she was confirmed as the celebrity picker, she had two days to put all this together. She’s one hell of a quick study.

Of course, the point where she wins my heart is when they bring up the Super Bowl performance, and she casually says “we have had some conversations and I would be honored, of course, but I have let them know that I’m not the type of girl that would pay to play the Super Bowl. The ball is in their field.” That’s right around the 2 minute mark.

Perry ended up out-picking the experts on several games. How did she celebrate?
