Justin Timberlake's Tour Will Be Fine (Maybe He Can Invite That Cop)

During Justin Timberlake’s DUI arrest in the Hamptons this week, he had the distinct and hilarious pleasure of dealing with a cop who was too young to recognize to him. As if that wasn’t humiliating enough, sources, nay, heroes at the scene immediately went running to Page Six to share this exchange, and we thank them for it.

“Justin said under his breath, ‘This is going to ruin the tour.’

Justin said, ‘The world tour.’”

Yup, that’s the stuff. This is why I get up in the morning and spend the rest of the day staring into space, ashamed to look my own kids in the eyes. My God, what have I done with my life…

Well, it turns out Justin’s world tour will be fine. So fine, in fact, that he’ll be back on stage in Chicago on Friday night, which should be interesting. Justin’s also forgoing the usual trip to rehab from the celeb playbook, and it’s easy to see why: His people clearly have TMZ in their pocket. Seriously, what the hell even is this report? It has all the markings of Team Justin, right down to throwing a woman under a bus.

Voluntarily seeking treatment in rehab or alcohol education classes can put them in a position for a better plea deal, but Justin has a different plan, and, perhaps … for good reason.

As we’ve reported, Justin has no prior arrest record, and as for the alcohol — our sources say he has no history of drinking irresponsibly, despite recent reports suggesting the opposite. People who’ve spent years around the singer tell us they’ve never known him to have a problem, and he’s typically in control while out in public.

That’s a vast departure from a situation like say, Lindsay Lohan’s in 2007. The former child star checked into Promises Treatment Center in Malibu after she was arrested for drinking and driving in Bev Hills.

In fairness, Timberlake’s DUI is bad but more embarrassing than anything. Especially when he has the money and resources to hire a driver. Yes, he could’ve killed someone like any idiot who gets behind the wheel plastered, but if this is Timberlake’s first rodeo, there’s not going to be any celebrity justice at play. He’ll lose his license for 90 days (give or take), take a class, pay a fine, and that will be it. That’s how these things roll even among us paupers.

In the meantime, Travis Scott is taking some heat off the Justin story, which frankly, was already cooling down. You’re probably already seeing headlines that Scott has been arrested, but it’s a big ol’ nothing burger. The police are even calling it “minor charges.” In a nutshell, Scott was wasted at a yacht party and got belligerent with the cops when they asked him to leave. They booked him, and he was free shortly after. Not much to see here.
