I want to take you back to a magical time called the early 2000s and a little site called MySpace. MySpace was a mess of graphic nonsense where we were given far too much authority over our own design options and everything was sparkly and stupid. But it was also a place where celebrities could write proper blogs just for us—with more than 140 characters and everything!
My favorite blogs came courtesy of then-married couple Jenna Fischer and James Gunn. They would write about their lives and each other and just seemed like they liked each other quite a bit. Their divorce announcement in 2007 came as a shock to those of us who followed them regularly.
In the rare case of celebrities splitting up telling the world they remain friends, these two actually did. This may be because they were genuinely better off as friends. On Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend, Gunn described their marriage saying, “I think in some ways we misinterpreted a really close bond.” And they’re still close today.
First, here is how Jenna proved herself as legitimate when she finally got a Twitter account:
@JamesGunn Yes! It's really me. To prove it: You gave me the ice cream dishes in the divorce.

He only made the movie Super thanks to Jenna’s encouragement:
About two years ago my ex-wife, Jenna Fischer, called me up and said “What are you doing with Super? That’s my favorite script of yours and I want you to tell that story.” I said, “My manager doesn’t want me to do it, I don’t have the financing anymore, I can’t think of anybody would could play Frank, it’s an esoteric film, a really weird film, and I don’t know how to do it.” She said, “Have you thought of Rainn for the role?” I’d known Rainn for five years and right away I was like wow, that fits, and I could see him playing that character.
They don’t shy away from pre-divorce Instagram pics:
They talk about ice cream.
People’re gonna think they’re paying me.But I just want em to stay in business ‘cuz I’d die without @jennafischer https://t.co/tLTI9CeyK1
