During the week leading up to Ayo Edebiri hosting SNL with musical guest Jennifer Lopez, someone dug up old comments that Edebiri made on a podcast, essentially calling Lopez’s career a scam.

“I appreciate a good scam,” Edebiri said on the podcast. “Today, I was actually thinking about one of my favorite scams of all time because J. Lo is performing at the Super Bowl halftime show.”

On the episode itself, Edebiri alluded to the comments during a sketch in which she mocked herself for saying something dumb on a podcast when she was younger. According to J.Lo, however, Ayo also apologized to her personally. From Variety:

“She was mortified and very sweet,” says Lopez about talking to Edebiri backstage afterward. “She came to my dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things. She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck and she actually got to hear me perform. She was just like, ‘I’m so fucking sorry, it was so awful of me.’” Lopez shrugs. “It’s funny. I’ve heard similar things said about me throughout my career, so it really didn’t affect me.”

I didn’t understand the criticism — I’ve seen Hustlers, there’s no scam there — but I’m glad to see it’s all water under the bridge and J. Lo can go back to hating on her husband’s music career.

Speaking of which, the DunKings tracksuit from Affleck’s Super Bowl ad went on sale on the Dunkin website but has already sold out.
