Today in “Yeeeah, That Makes Sense”, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her teacher husband, Ryan Anderson, have separated three months after her prison release. The couple got hitched in a jailhouse ceremony back in July 2022, so they (almost) made it two years. Gypsy shared the announcement on Facebook:

“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am.”

In case you’re like, “Parents’ home by the bayou? But didn’t Gypsy’s mom get murdered? And that’s why she was in prison for seven years? OMG, did I Mandela Effect this entire story?!?” Calm down. Yes, Gypsy’s abusive biological mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, is dead. The post is referring to her father, Rod, and stepmother, Kristy. Gypsy has called Kristy “the mom I always wanted to have.”

Gypsy, 32, and Ryan, 37, first connected when she was in prison. He wrote to her after watching The Act and the 2017 HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest. Back in January, Ryan told PEOPLE:

“I remember telling her what her story meant to me, and on the second page I just let her have it. I told her everything about me.” As for why she chose to respond: “She told me the main reason was probably because I was from Louisiana [Gypsy’s original home state],” he said while laughing. “So I credit that as being the most important thing.”

Before her December release, Gypsy admitted she was nervous about living with Ryan when she got out of prison:

“I’ve never lived with a man. I grew up with a mom, so I didn’t even grow up with a dad in the house. So I’m like, ‘I don’t even know what it’s like to live with a man.’”

But she shared that she was hopeful, and wanted a second wedding with “all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that.” Gypsy and Ryan weren’t allowed guests at their prison nuptials.

A couple of months ago, Ryan was getting a bunch of negative feedback on Instagram. So, Gypsy Rose took to the comments to defend her man. Her words went viral:

“Ryan, don’t listen to the haters. I love you, and you love me. We do not owe anyone anything. Our family is who matters. If you get likes and good comments great, if you get hate then whatever because THEY DON’T MATTER. I love you besides they jealous because you are rocking my world every night…yeah I said it, the D is fire happy wife happy life ❤️”

In light of the separation news, I gotta ask: was the D really fire? Or was it nothing but ash?
