Four Women Accuse Jared Leto of Sexual Assault

Four women have come forward with accusations of criminal sexual conduct against actor Jared Leto, alleging that he abused them when they were teenagers.

One of the women says she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another says that Leto groomed her as a teenager before being made to sign a non-disclosure agreement. A third alleges that Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19. A fourth describes being a victim of statutory rape at the hands of Leto.

The BBC documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret features ten women who have detailed their alleged experiences with him. Other women in the film say that he repeatedly approached teenage girls. The BBC has corroborated a number of the women’s accounts with friends and family, and have seen pictures and messages that back up their allegations. The documentary also features two men who worked with Leto’s Band, 30 Seconds to Mars, for several years, telling the BBC that they were deeply uncomfortable with the ways that Leto would repeatedly invite teenage girls backstage or to his dressing room.

This is not the first time that Leto has faced such accusations. Last year, AirMail reported that nine women had accused him of sexual impropriety. And that doesn’t even get into the decades of whispers and jokes about it that have become standard Hollywood lore. Leto denies all accusations and has seen no negative repercussions with his career. This year, he was the villain in Masters of the Universe and last year he headlined Tron: Ares. Both films were commercial flops.

One can only hope that this report will lead to some sort of consequences for Leto, a talentless and egotistical jerk who keeps getting jobs despite the fact that he’s box office poison who’s a nightmare to work with and whose band has to use seat filler companies to get butts in seats. Everyone’s heard the stories about him. The reporting on his alleged actions is both convincing and haunting. There is no reason to keep this creep around. These women and girls deserve far better.
